The internet causes a worrying loss or lack of sleep

For the past ten years, the industrial world never ceased or stopped to invent new technologies and to improve the use of Internet. Our continued dependence on technology has a harmful and negative side effect  namely a disturbing loss or lack of sleep (Insomnia). Despite the risks, the adolescents and young adults are particularly affected by the impact of this technology. The effects on the physical and mental health are well known.

The internet and lack or loss of sleep
One of the major causes of technological dependency is the arrival and the refinement of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Not only the majority of adolescents and young adults spend nearly 36 hours on the internet per week but a study of the French Environmental Health Association (ASEF) also demonstrates that 75% of teens are sleeping with their cellular or cell phones at their sides.

Adolescents give much importance to their social life and want to see all the information that is constantly being added on these sites, even if it cut their sleep time. Now, the average hours of sleep of a typical American is six and a half hours while the average was nine hours before the progression of the Internet.

"An American study suggests that the backlit screens of the tablets disrupt melatonin the hormone responsible for the sleep said Bruno Geoffroy. Without it our sleep is impossible".

The rest and mental health are enormous factors of academic success. This addiction and dependence on the technology hinder and harm therefore indirectly to learning the student who does not often remember or realize.
